Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole Council commissioned us to create a classroom for the delivery of educational activities at Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre on the Dorset coast.
A pair of 20 foot shipping containers form two protective walls for shelter, one is timber lined and opens onto the deck to create an indoor / outdoor space. The other is for storage with end opening doors.
The containers were built to the client’s specification by Containers Direct, we then clad both containers with larch boards at our workshop and then delivered them to site.
A timber framed shelter over a 36m2 raised deck provides under cover space for teaching and opens out on to a meadow at the nature reserve.
The roof is made from plastisol coated corrugated tin in Merlin Grey with an anti condensation treatment in the underside.
