National Trust Mottisfont

Young children can spend countless hours playing with water: pouring it back and forth, watching it spill over the edge of a container, blocking its stream, directing its flow, splashing gently, making waves, and pouring some more.

In a natural, woodland environment children can learn so much about the physical world through playing with natural materials. Set in the woodland alongside the river at The National Trust property Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire is a water play feature designed and installed by us in 2014.

The design encourages family interaction an play through the manipulation of a series of water channels controlled by a hand pump and sluice gates.
