Why Choose Us?

National Play Policy & Strategy

  • The Green Play Project puts into practice the Children’s Play Council priorities for play, as published in Best Play – what play provision should do for children:
  • Creating a varied and inspiring environment
  • Challenge in relation to the physical environment
  • Playing safely with the natural elements – earth, water, fire, air
  • Movement – running, jumping, rolling, climbing, balancing
  • Manipulating natural and fabricated materials
  • Stimulating the five senses
  • Experiencing change in the natural and built environment
  • Interacting with each other
  • Playing with identity
  • Experiencing a range of emotions

These criteria have been adopted in the play policies of South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council (Making Play Matter).

We also promote and carry out the National Play Safety Forum’s position on acceptable risk, as published in Managing Risk in Play Provision:

“Play provision is uniquely placed to offer children the chance to learn about risk in an environment designed for that purpose, and thus to help children equip themselves to deal with similar hazards in the wider world.”
